Maldives


The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. It’s known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs. The capital, Malé, has a busy fish market, restaurants and shops on the main road, Majeedhee Magu, and 17th-century Hukuru Miskiy (also known as Friday Mosque) made of carved white coral.

The Hain, the main ceremony of the Selk'nam, was celebrated for last time in XX century. It was a rite of initiation for boys and an educative experience based on the belief that in the old days there was a predominance of women. The ceremony of the Klóketen or Hain is the widespread aspect of the cultural life, corresponding to the ritual of initiation of the young men in the tribes from a common territory. The boys of between fourteen and sixteen years were separated of their home to become Klóketen in the maturity through the ceremony. This miscalculation would later become a symbol of civic pride, but tell that to the man who designed it! The learning tower of Pisa, known as Torre Pendente di Pisa in Italian, is different than most medieval architecture.
