This postcard means a lot to me. I recieved it from my friend that I know since kindergarden!  We lived in the same city Donetsk, but unfortunately for all of us we can't stay there due to the war in it. This postcard shows Doves of Peace, because we all wait for them to come to our city and bring PEACE!

Traditional Aruban House

Image
Aruba, an island slightly larger than Washington, DC, lies 18 mi (28.9 km) off the coast of Venezuela in the southern Caribbean.Aruba is a popular vacation destination and offers a large and varied choice of accommodations. Aruba's high-rise resorts are located on Palm Beach while the low-rise resorts are located on Eagle Beach.  The mother-tongue of Aruba is Papiamento. It is a language, not a dialect, and evolved from several older languages as most languages today have done. The language's name is derived from the Portuguese verb 'papear' which means 'to jabber' or the verb in Spanish meaning to speak incoherently. The word 'papiamento' also has the same meaning as parliament which is derived from the French word 'parler' (to speak).

Borneo is a huge island located in South-East Asia , in between the Indian & Pacific oceans. The Borneo rainforest is certainly the largest, and the most important, forested land-area in Asia. Stone Jumping

Image
From the age of 7, the boys on the island of Nias practice the ancient art of boulder jumping. As their age increases, so does the height of the boulders they dare defy. For the young men of the Nias tribes, the time would come when they would have to prove their courage and maturity as a warrior through a series of tests. Warriors of Nias must first be strong. Next they must be skilled in martial arts and trained in black magic. The last and final test for the warriors is to leap over massive stones, measuring as high as 2 meters without so much as touching the surface. Stone jumping on Nias Island is referred to as HomboBatu or Fahombo , and is a tradition that has been faithfully practiced and preserved for centuries.

Hundertwasser House

Image
The Hundertwasser House in Vienna is a building designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Vienna's 3rd district. The official name of the building, which many people simply call Hundertwasser House, is actually Hundertwasser-Krawina House. Josef Krawina is an Austrian architect and was heavily involved in the planning of the Hundertwasser House in Vienna. The extraordinary building was constructed between 1983 and 1985.  Anyone who lives in the Hundertwasser House also has the right to decorate the façade around the windows entirely to their own taste. This makes the house on Vienna's Kegelgasse even more lively. More than 200 trees and shrubs on the balconies and roof terraces make the Hundertwasser House a green oasis in the heart of the city.

Belgium

Belgium is located in north-western Europe. It is surrounded by the Netherlands, the North Sea, Germany, Luxembourg, and France. There are three official languages in Belgium. There is a small group of German-speakers in eastern Wallonia.   The town of Spa in Belgium is where the word 'spa' comes from. People as far back as ancient Roman times used to come to the town to bathe in the famed cold springs for health and healing purposes.

Barcelona Cathedral

Image
Barcelona Cathedral or the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia is a magnificent Gothic church. The Cathedral of Saint Eulalia is just as impressive inside as it is outside. Featuring a striking roof adorned with allegorical gargoyles and majestic bell towers that rise high into the sky, the exterior amazes the visitor with its grandeur and perfection of detail. What shines the most, however, is the stunning Gothic façade beautifully decorated with statues, pinnacles and arches. The interior entails a spectacular nave flanked by 28 chapels and exquisitely brightened by some remarkable stained-glass windows. Another top feature of the Cathedral of Barcelona is the elevator which takes visitors to the roof and provides them with spectacular views over the Gothic Quarter and the dramatic skyline of Barcelon
